Celtic Quilts: A New Look for Ancient Designs [includes trunk show]

 An overview of the significance of Celtic symbolism and the sometimes very difficult personal journey that led to the writing of this book.

 

Bargello and Beyond [includes trunk show]

 Based in part on Beth's book, Colorwash Bargello Quilts An often humorous overview of the origins of Beth's bargello-style quilts, both in terms of personal symbolism and the greater quilting tradition. Includes commentary on the use of color and value in creating three-dimensional visual illusions and dancing interplay of light and dark across a two-dimensional quilt surface.

 

A Personal Approach to Color [includes trunk show]

 Beth shares some of her favorite ways to build color palettes for her quilts, and offers suggestions for both finding sources of inspiration and building the confidence to follow where that inspiration leads. [See "Color, Value, & Style" for workshop versions of this class, including handouts and exercises for class participants.]

 

African Cloth, American Quilts [includes trunk show]

 Explore ways in which the colors, patterns, and symbolism found in traditional textiles from western and central Africa can inspire contemporary quiltmakers today. Trunk show includes authentic examples of antique handwoven, hand dyed, hand printed and/or beaded textiles from various regions in Africa, as well as contemporary roller- and screen-printed African cottons imported for the quilting market.

 

A World Of Quilts [includes trunk show]

 Based in part on Beth's book, A World Of Quilts: 10 Projects Using Ethnic Fabrics Tips, techniques, and pattern suggestions for transforming exotic ethnic prints from Asia, Africa, Indonesia and Australia into gorgeous quilts and exciting home decor items. Includes an introduction to the history and symbolism behind many of these fabulous fabrics, as well as how to effectively combine them with domestic quilting cottons.
